چکیده

A study was conducted in northern Colorado to evaluate the effectiveness of two compost products on improvement turfgrass color and quality, necrotic ringspot (NRS) disease suppression, thatch reduction. Two Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) home lawns with a history NRS were chosen for study. Treatments applied twice during 2018 growing season after all plots aerated consisted (a) inoculated topdressing at rate 66 m3 ha–1, (b) dairy manure (c) urea fertilizer 49 kg N (d) control (aeration only no or applied). Data collected every 2 wk from May October 2018, included percentage disease-affected turf, quality. Thatch depth measured monthly. The conventional had less than control, showed significant suppression earlier compost. Season-long averages that treated either better turf quality control. When data pooled over course season, there differences between treatments regard severity received 17% fertilizer. This demonstrated decreased incidence improved

Measuring sod strength of Kentucky bluegrass and Supina bluegrass

The extent of root, rhizome, and/or stolon growth determines turfgrass sod maturity. In 1998, at Michigan State University, the Calrochan Sod Puller (CSP) was developed to measure the force necessary to tear a piece of sod. The CSP uses a battery powered hydraulic pulley to provide a consistent pulling force, and is attached to a load cell. In August 1999, sod strength measurements of different...

Salinity Tolerance of Kentucky Bluegrass as Affected by Salicylic Acid

Salinity is one of the greatest environmental challenges facing plant growth and development in the 21st century. Salicylic acid (SA) is a phenolic compound and signal molecule involved in the regulation of plants responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. This greenhouse experiment was conducted to determine effects of SA application on Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) responses to salinit...
